Between the moment you click Submit and the moment a person sees your name, your application gets read by software. Step one: your resume becomes a database record

The parser's job is extraction. It reads your file and fills fields: name, contact details, work history as employer, title, and date triples, education, and a skills list. Everything downstream (search, filters, ranking) runs on those fields, not on your carefully designed page.

  • 'White-text keywords beat the system.' Systems flag it, recruiters see it in the parsed record, and it reads as fraud.
  • 'The ATS auto-rejects most resumes with AI.' Most rejections trace to knockout answers and plain mismatch, not a secret model.
  • 'PDFs always break parsing.' Text-based PDFs parse fine in modern systems; scanned or image-based PDFs are the real hazard.
